With a second-place finish on the stage 4 individual time trial, Lampre’s Ravais Belohvosciks moved into the overall lead at the Four Days of Dunkirk in France, taking the leader’s pink jersey from Janek Tombak (Cofidis).
Friday was a split stage at Dunkirk, with Jean-Patrick Nazon (La Française des Jeux) winning in a sprint over Lampre’s Jan Svorada. Navigators’ Ciaran Power took fifth.
The afternoon presented the riders with a flat 23.3km time-trial course, and it was Crédit Agricole’s Christophe Moreau who posted the fastest time of the day, covering the distance in 27:51.64. Belohvosciks was only 13.9 seconds back, good enough to move into the overall lead, while Moreau’s teammate Jens Voigt took third, 15 seconds behind Moreau. American David Zabriskie (U.S. Postal Service) finished ninth, 29.5 seconds slower than Moreau.
With two days remaining, Belohvosciks leads France’s Sylvain Chavanel (Bonjour) by 12 seconds in the overall.
