Southeast Women's (SEW) Cycling is a grass-roots effort for women, by women, created to encourage participation in competitive cycling at all levels.
Ultimately, growth in women’s cycling will happen when we can offer race environments that are both challenging and fun. The goals of SEW cycling are to
1) grow women’s cycling by providing women the opportunity to race multiple events, earning points and prizes;
2) reduce barriers to beginner women by providing separate category 3/4 races where they learn and put into practice race tactics and pack skills;
3) provide quality racing for advanced women in a competitive environment by providing separate category 1/2/3 races; and
4) create a sustainable series where women’s racing is profitable.
The organizers of the SEW series believe promoters will see that women's racing IS strong in the Southeast, and that women deserve a place at each and every race. SEW Cycling is not affiliated with any promoter, event, or racing series.
The SEW calendar was compiled from existing races and with input from promoters who sought inclusion in the series because they know the value of having large, competitive
women’s fields. The members of the SEW organizing committee are grateful to the race promoters who are willing to offer Pro 1/2/3 and 3/4 fields and work with the series in its inaugural year.
