Alessandro Petacchi continued to show-off his early season form Wednesday,winning his second successive stage at Spain’s Volta Ciclista

With a day of frequent attacks ending in another field sprint, Petacchi easily beat Isaac Galvez (Illes Balears - Banesto) and Liquigas’s Luciano Pagliarini to the line.The day's stage featured a largely flat, 178-kilometer route from largely flat route from Xàbia to Port de Sagunt. The only rated climb was a Cat. 2 ascent with 33km remaining.The day featured several attacks, with the Saunier Duval team of race leader Constantino Zaballa doing much of the chase work. But as the racethe neared the end, Petacchi’s Fassa Bortolo team took over at the headof the peloton and provided another text-book lead-out for the team captain.Petacchi, who won Stage 1 on Tuesday on top of his Trofeo Luis Puigwin last Saturday, easily beat Galvez by half a bike length. The win alsogave Petacchi the overall lead and the race leader’s jersey heldby Zaballa, who earned it on Tuesday on the strength of time bonus awardedduring the first stage.Stage 2
