Post column was a cheap shotVelo
It really is unfortunate that an ultra-conservative tabloid like
theNew York Post has attacked Lance Armstrong's personal life whilecriticizing his tepid endorsement of Paris for the 2012 Olympics. As a New Yorker I also endorse any other country besides the US/NYC.The Olympics should be a worldwide event and not dominated by the westor the U.S. foe that matter. We have hosted Olympic games on four separate occasions since the 1980s(Lake Placid, Los Angeles, Atlanta and Salt Lake City). Let's give therest of the world a chance. As Americans we are entitled to our own opinions and thoughts, and shouldn'tbe made fun of just because some tabloid can.

Why should Lance care? Why should I?Dear VeloNews,
After reading the article regarding
LanceArmstrong giving his endorsement to Paris for the 2012 Olympics, Ihave to ask the question: Who cares what Lance thinks about the Olympics? It's obvious that he doesn't? Does Lance even ride in any racesbesides Le Tour? Give me a break. Yeah I know, I know. Lance isthe Almighty. He already rode the Olympics, and won the world's.Personally, I think Lance still has a lot to prove. I think heneeds to show that he's more then a one-race rider. Maybe he just needsto show that he cares about the sport, that he's unselfish and wants togive something back to the sport that has given him so much.I believe that Lance could dominate a season. I think he could win twoclassics, two major tours, and cap it all of with the world's. Yes, itmight cost him Le Tour victory, but does he really have anything more toprove in France? To me, Lance is just a great rider for three weeks outof a year. Big deal.Joe RobbinsWell Joe if a guy
had to pick one race in the worldin which to excel, you have to give the guy credit for picking the rightone, no? –
EditorDon't shoot! To whom it may concern:
Regarding the
recentletter advising riders to carry a gun, I love to ride my bike. No,I don't have an $8000 sleek machine, just a simple commuter bike. But,I sure like to ride my bike... and trail run, and sea kayak, and snowboard, and oh my gosh, have a beer on a sunny deck on Friday afternoons. So, as I ride my bike from Denver to Golden each day (I know, it's onlya 30-mile round trip and I use saddle bags and stuff - but sure have fundoing it!), please, oh please, shaved-legged-logo-jersey-wearing-even-though-I'm-not-getting-paid-to-75-dollar-per-lb-oats-eating-sour-facedroad rider, please don't shoot me with your newly purchased gun that isconcealed in the back pocket of that $200 jersey. Thanks,
