Biography

One of the most respected “gregarios” in the peloton, at 36, Arrieta is now also one of the oldest. He was once one of the top young talents to come out of Spain’s post-Indurain boom, but has since developed into one of the best domestiques in the pack. He followed Francisco Mancebo to Ag2r for the 2006 season, but stayed on with the French team after Mancebo’s name was linked to the Operación Puerto doping scandal. He signed a one-year contract to keep him in the saddle through 2008.
