Biography
Spinelli took perhaps one of the most dramatic spills of the 2007 race calendar, just meters from the finish line in Philly, where he shattered his collarbone and ended his 2007 racing season in an instant. Cleared to ride in 2008, he returns with a vengeance. Since starting out on his first Big Wheel as a youngster, Spinelli has ridden competitively for an assortment of pro cycling teams. Early in his career he was both New Hampshire State Road and State Time Trial Champion (40K) in the same year (1998). He joined the US National Road Cycling Team that same year and took first places in the U-23 Altoona and Killington Stage Races and second place in the U-23 National Cyclocross Championships. In 2004, Spinelli counted three first places in the Connecticut River Front, Riverside and Lake Pleasant Cyclocross Elite Men races, plus a second place finish in the BCA Cyclocross Elite Men. In 2005 he placed fifth in three stages of the Green Mountain Classic, seventh in the Louis Garneau Classic, ninth in the Tour of Shenandoah Final General Classification and eighth in the Tour of Shenandoah Stage Five.
