The 2009 Tour of the Gila in southern New Mexico is part of National Racing Calendar (NRC) for men and women. The race was nearly canceled earlier in the year because of sponsorship woes, but the local community and the cycling community came together to save the race for its 23rd edition. The race is expecting its largest pro fields ever.
